Pyrite [FeS₂] is one of the most common sulfide minerals on the planet. It forms beautiful characteristic cubes with a golden luster. Pyrite is commonly called "fools gold" because of how similar it can look to the untrained eye. Named for the Greek word for fire, pyrite will spark when struck against stone or metal.
