Gypsum Rose (Nevada, USA)

This beautiful little desert rose is a nice specimen of the evaporatory mineral, Gypsum. With a series of interlocking bladed crystals, this will make a beautiful addition to any colelction.

Geologic Information

Gypsum [CaSO₄•2H₂O] is the most common sulfate mineral on earth. Mined all over the world, this evaporite is used in fertilizer, plaster, chalk and drywall. The word gypsum comes from the Greek word gypsos, for plaster.
