Geologic Information

Picasso Marble was created by the metamorphosis of Late Paleozoic (298 - 251mya) era limestone during a period of increased volcanism in the Tertiary (65 - 2.8mya). The heat and pressure not only catalyzed the change to limestone, but also filled the fractures with mineral rich fluids which created the beautiful abstract patterns.
