This cabochon is a slice of the Pilbara’s ancient sedimentary story—where iron, time, and tectonics conspired to make art.
Noreena Jasper is a silicified mudstone from the Hamersley Basin of Western Australia, over 2.5 billion years old. Its fractured, iron-stained patterns form through natural jointing and later mineralization—often mistaken for breccia, but more likely the result of weathering and fluid flow through cracked sedimentary layers.
This piece, cut into a balanced high-dome teardrop, shows ochres, rusty reds, and creamy yellow seams that resemble aerial views of dry riverbeds. The palette is 100% natural—no dyes, no filler. Just oxidized iron giving the Earth its scars.
Finished to a glass polish on the front, and left rough on the back to show the original rock. Would anchor a pendant or stand on its own in a collector’s case.
