Gorgeous slabs of leopard skin jasper with a stunning healed fracture full of red silicate mineral deposition.  This will make several high quality cabochons or a great display piece as is. Shown wet in last three photos to simulate polished reflectivity.

Geologic Information

Jasper is a microcrystalline form of quartz (SiO₂) and can form in a variety of geologic settings.  Since there are so many ways that it can form, there are an equally wide variety of types of jasper that have been discovered all over the world. Bird's eye jasper is likely actually a volcanic rock called rhyolite. The "eyes" are created by minerals growing during the flow and deformation of the lava as it solidifies.
