Geologic Information

Often found in veins within deposits, crazy lace agate displays a stunning variety of colors, patterns, and nodules.  Agate is a type of chalcedony, or microcrystalline quartz [SiO₂]. The bands and nodules typically grow sequentially in cavities or fractures in pre-existing rock, with silica precipitating in layers of varying colors.
