Agate is a type of chalcedony, or microcrystalline quartz [SiO2]. Often found in veins within other deposits, brecciated agate displays a stunning variety of colors, patterns, and nodules.
In the case of this specimen, the original green rock was shattered due to tectonic activity, then filled with hydrothermal fluid which deposited quartz and other minerals.
Fully polished on both sides; great for wire wrapping!
