Lepidolite is a mica-group mineral, or phyllosilicate, with the formula K(Li,Al)3(Al,Si,Rb)4O10(F,OH)2. Its pink coloring comes from the manganese inclusions in its chemical structure. Named for the amount of lithium in its chemical structure, lepidolite is actually the most common lithium-bearing mineral on Earth!
This beautiful specimen shows off two colors of lepidolite, an ethereal purple and a bright silver.
Mounted in a small display box with a label bearing the mineral name, chemical formula, and origin.
