Adamite [Zn2(AsO4)(OH)] was named in 1866 for its discoverer, Gilbert Joseph Adam, who was the Inspector of Finance for the French government at that time. Adam was an avid mineral collector who discovered many new minerals throughout his life. His collection was later acquired by the École des Mines in Paris, France.

Adamite is a secondary mineral in zinc deposits where arsenic is available for incorporation into its structure. Adamite forms a solid-solution with the mineral olivenite [Cu2(AsO4)(OH)].

This beautiful vintage specimen is from an unknown mine in Mexico and was probably mined sometime in the 1970s. With gorgeous pale yellow-green coloring, clustered euhedral crystals and small radial growths of acicular (needle-like) crystals, this is an awesome display piece.
